The 5th demonstration of Malaga (Spain June 2003)
Marcia Ferreira Taught technique: Duchess |
Contrary to laces seen previously, we approach laces with cut wire. Here, the "Duchess".
For the training course, the wire employed was a little larger than
usually (normally 120/2). The result is consequently less fine.
An advantage of lace with cut wire, it is that one needs much less bobbins. The models
resemble drawings and not prickings. It is necessary to use very fine pins and a hook. The
ornaments are flowers, sheets, curves, fluid and harmonious lines, volutes with or without
snail.
You will notice the round and flat trades essential for this technique.
