The holiday of Broquelet - Wazemmes on May 12 and 13, 2001 (1/3) |
The Museum of the Orphanage Countess
Situated in the historic heart of the city of Lille, the Countess orphanage stays one of the last testimonies of Lille of the action of the Counts of Flanders. Based in 1237 by the Countess Jeanne de Flandres, he was placed under the protection of Our Lady and devînt, from 1245 , the Countess hospital in gratitude to his founder. | The kitchen of the ancient hospital evokes the intimacy of a Flemish house
in the XVIIè century. One can notice the vast fireplace, the pavement in paving stones of Tournai, and the walls covered with stone floors of blue earthenware. |
I had the pleasure to make work my " Broquelets " in a very beautiful room of the museum.
In the floor, one could admire this hat of dress of Valenciennes's lace baptism ( fine XIXè)..... | .... As well as a magnificent register including lace samples of Lille. |
Thanks to all the staff of the museum for its kindness and for the professionalism shown with the numerous groups of present foreign tourists.
