The gauze point developed in Brussels, probably in the firm of Mr. Vanderkelen-Bresson;
The points of shade and the fillings refined date from the years 1860 and 1870. The
crimped reasons for a cordonnet were carried out in various intensities, so that the unit
made the effect of a play of shade and lights between the foreground and the bottom.
This bottom resembles tulle, carried out by successive lines with only one wire, each line
was hung up again with the preceding one. The bottom was strewn with bouquets or garlands
of natural flowers: irises, tulips, anemones, lilacs, daisies... the pinks were the reason
generally employed. In this type of lace, the pink was composed sometimes, of a double
line of petal forming a moderate relief and giving the impression of detached sheets. This
lace spread in 1870.
